Maud Gallery is a contemporary photography gallery based in Brisbane.
Operating primarily online as a space for bodies of photographic work that unfold over time.
It has grown from Maud Creative, established in 2014, and continues in close association with Queensland Centre for Photography. That history still informs how the gallery approaches photography — as an ongoing practice rather than isolated images or artists’ portfolios.
The work presented here is deliberate and resolved. It is shaped by observation, restraint, and a clear sense of authorship. There is no interest in spectacle. The focus is on photographs that hold attention and remain coherent as a body of work.
viewing rooms
The program is structured through Viewing Rooms. Each is built as a complete presentation, not a selection of highlights.
The sequencing is considered. Images are placed in relation to one another so the work unfolds with clarity and rhythm. It asks for a slower kind of looking — closer to how the work is made and understood over time.
artists
Maud Gallery works with a small group of photographers on an ongoing basis, with occasional additions where the work is a strong fit.
These are long-term relationships. The emphasis is on how a practice develops — how the work shifts, deepens, or holds its position over time. The gallery supports artists whose approach to photography is consistent, serious, and sustained.
Position
Based in Brisbane, the gallery operates largely online and holds occasional in-house exhibitions. This allows the work to reach beyond a single location while remaining grounded in a specific photographic context.
There is a continuity between making, exhibiting, and revisiting work. The gallery sits within that process rather than presenting it from a distance.
