John Gollings is an Australian photographer trained in architecture at the University of Melbourne. Beginning in advertising during the 1960s, he later focused on architecture and the built environment, developing a practice grounded in precision, scale and the experience of space.
Since the 1980s, as a photographer, Gollings has documented significant buildings and urban sites across Australia and Asia, alongside long-term projects exploring historic cities and cultural landscapes. An early adopter of digital imaging, Gollings continues to investigate the relationship between architecture, technology and the photographic image.
John Gollings’ works are held in major public and private collections throughout Australia and internationally.
Gollings was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016.
