Julian Pearce is a fine art photographer whose work explores light, space and architecture through monochrome photography.
Working primarily with medium and large format film cameras, he makes prints in his darkroom using silver gelatin and platinum-palladium processes. Rooted in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century photographic traditions, these methods require patience, precision and a carefully considered approach.
For Within Without, however, Julian worked with an iPhone, allowing him to respond more spontaneously to James Turrell’s sculpture and to the changing relationships between geometry, light and perception.
