Wendy Dutton is an Australian fine art photographer based in Southeast Queensland. Her work explores place, memory and close observation, often finding meaning in quiet, easily overlooked subjects.
After more than two decades working exclusively with digital photography, Wendy turned to alternative photographic processes. The change opened new creative possibilities and introduced a slower, more hands-on approach. Each process brings its own character, encouraging experimentation and discovery. As a result, the journey of making the photograph becomes just as important as the finished print.
LIGHT, FORM AND ATMOSPHERE
Working predominantly in monochrome, Wendy uses light, texture and form to create photographs with a quiet, atmospheric presence. Black and white strips away distraction and reveals the essential structure of a scene. At the same time, subtle tonal shifts create mood and invite closer attention.
Rather than simply documenting a place, Wendy responds to what she experiences. Her photographs suggest memory, feeling and atmosphere, allowing viewers to find their own connections within the image.
ARTIST BOOKS AND PROCESS
