Immersion is a photographic series by Cam Attree exploring reflection, symmetry and the transformation of the human body through water. Produced within the controlled confines of a shallow reflective pool, the works reduce the body to line, contour and mirrored form.

Using a minimal black background and still water surface, Attree creates images that move between abstraction and figure study. Familiar gestures and poses become visually unstable once reflected, producing compositions that appear suspended between photography, performance and graphic design.

Rather than approaching the nude as spectacle, Immersion focuses on repetition, balance and formal restraint. Bodies fold, dissolve and reappear across the reflective surface, at times becoming almost sculptural or architectural in their symmetry.

The series was developed using volunteer models, many of whom had never posed nude before. Working within a confined studio setup, Attree embraced the technical limitations of the project, using them to refine a highly controlled visual language built around stillness, precision and reflection.

CURATORIAL NOTE

In Immersion, Cam Attree strips the photographic space back to its essentials: body, water and reflection. The mirrored surface disrupts normal orientation and scale, allowing the figures to shift between physical presence and abstract form.

What holds the series together is restraint. The images rely on repetition and symmetry rather than narrative, asking the viewer to look slowly at the relationship between surface, gesture and perception.
